page numbers and printing
I have a rather lengthy document divided into several sections, and in each
section, the page numbers start over from 1. I need to print part of the last section, but when I type the pages I need into the Print box, it prints the pages from the first section. I also tried using the actual page numbers, but since those are beyond the numbers in any section, nothing printed. Copying it to another file won't work, either, since I have bookmarks with page references. |

You can specify the absolute page numbers, shown in the status bar when you
select within the page, or use the form 'pxsy' where y is the section number and x is the page within the section. Eg to print pages 2-4 from section 6, use p2s6-p4s6. "Paul" wrote in message ... FWIW, I've never had much luck with the absolute numbers.

I think numbering each section separately is a silly idea, too.

Agreed, but I do number front matter in books separately when there is
enough of it to matter. That is, if there are just a half-title and title page before the book begins, I won't bother, but if in addition there are a TOC, a list of illustrations, a preface, etc., then I'll roman-number the front matter and start the main text at 1. -- Suzanne S. If you have sections that may need to be updated independently of the others,
it seems to me that you would not want to re-number all succesive sections. "Jezebel" wrote: I think numbering each section separately is a silly idea, too. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message ...
