unwanted/unexpected symbols appearing on drafts

for some reason I'm getting unwanted symbols on my draft emails and replies.
these symbols appear on blank lines, at the end of sentences, and as .
between words within sentences. the do not appear in the final sent copy,
nor the copy saved in messages sent. this problem seems to come and go,
without warning.

has anyone got answers/suggestions as to how I remove this?

You are using Word as your email editor. Click on the [¶] button, or
press Ctrl+Shift+8

Hi Pat, Where do I find this button you refer to as I have just received what
seems to be the same or similar problem. I also tried teh 3 button together
but that did not seem to change anything? The symbol is th4e same. However, I
have not made any changes to outlook.
