does a star(*) within a cell have any other meaning apart from a symbol for
multiplication within a formula???

If it's included in text, it can represent a wild card:
=countif(a1:a10,"*shashi*") will count all the cells in A1:A10 that contain Shashi somewhere in that cell. shashi wrote: does a star(*) within a cell have any other meaning apart from a symbol for multiplication within a formula??? -- Dave Peterson
