Default Getting Rid of the +1

My outlook is connected to our echange server, wich in turn is connected to My Windows Smart Phone. Sometimes when the +1 is in fron of the number (Particlurlay with an Ext XXX) I can't dial the number. I have to go into the contacts and manually remove the +1 and then all is fine. (Obviously a pain) I also use the outlook data for reports and proposals and the +1 is not appropriate. I don't make international calls and If I did, I could easily add the +1. How can I get rid of the "+1".

Thanks

You cannot change how Outlook masks phone numbers. Outlook uses standard
protocols. There is no need to change the format nor would doing so be
advisable.

Because of a recent need to reformat my hard drive to get rid of a virus, I
had to reinstall Outlook 2003 and its datafile and have had a few glitches.
The one I'm working on now is that new contacts, when added, have their
phones formatted as 4081234567. I prefer (408) 123-4567. The old contacts
are all OK. Can anyone help me with this one?

Usually it is done in Control Panel Phone and modem Options...

Hi:
I am running Outlook 2003.
When i went in to change the area code i was dialing from, that did it for
the most part, but now it is adding a "+1" in front of the number, i.e. +1
(410) 555-1234.
How do i get rid of the "+1"?

Thanks

You appear to have configured Outlook to automatically add the country code
to local numbers. You can toggle that option off in Contacts Actions
Call Contact New Call Dialing Options...

from the dialing properties, but it won't let me leave it blank for the area
code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Getting Rid of the "+1"

There are reasons to get rid of the +1. My outlook is connected to our exchange server which is in turn connected to my Mobile 6.1 Smart Phone. Many times, the phone can't call the "+1" particularly with an extension [+1 (123) 456-7890 X 123)]. I have to go into contacts on my phone and edit out the +1 to make the call. In addition, I use the data in outlook for proposals and the +1 is not appropriate. Because Outlook is inconstant, (some with +1 and some without) It is hard to filter out. There has to be a way to not display the +1 and not to have it exported.

Thanks for your anticipated cooperation.
