Cannot connect to newsgroup server

Up until 2 nights ago, OE worked fine when connecting to
my newsgroup server. Then it failed. The error message
said it couldn't connect to the server.

I tried deleting the newsgroup server and reinstalling.
When trying to download the newsgroup list, these are the
details of the error message:

480 Authentication required for command

Configuration:
Account: news.frii.com
Server: news.frii.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Error Number: 480
Code: 800ccca2



You used to be able to delete and then reinstall OE, but
that doesn't seem to be the case these days. :-(

Anyone have an idea as to where to look for the problem?

This happens to me a couple of times a month. I don't fool with any of the
settings because it doesn't make any difference. The problem is with the
servers, not your machine. Don't change anything, be patient and wait for
the engineers at your newsgroup's tech department to fix things on their
end. Don't forget to include your password if that is required by your
server for access to the newsgroups.

I thought this might be the problem, but changed my mind
when I tried another computer and it worked fine.

However, the one that doesn't work is XP, the one that
does is Windows 98.

Could it be OS related?
