Default VISIO 2000 2003

I have my CD for VISIO 2003 and have just gotten a new destop machine and
wanted to re-install it. My issue is that I forgot that this version was an
upgrade version requiring an installation of an older version like 2000 or
2002. Of course like an idiot I was clearing out some old CD and must have
tossed my copy of VISIO 2000 and now I am stuck.

Any thought on how I can can resolve this.

Thanks for your help

v2000 was the version that MS bought Visio, so yours may be pre-MS unless
you can find it. v2010 releases on May 12 (retails in June), that's ten
years of upgrades.... If you registered your v2000 with MS you might give
their support line a call to see if they can assist you.

I'll second what Al wrote. There is not much you can do on your own short of
finding that old 2000 CD. When I worked for Microsoft Customer Service about
10 years ago, there was a way for us to generate "upgrade bypass" keys (for
exactly this situation) that would allow you to install without having the
old discs. No idea if that is still their policy, but it won't hurt to give
them a call. Do it sooner than later, because with 2010 coming out, they are
likely to discontinue support for 2003 soon.
