Cannot open visio document if there is a dash in the folder name
We are using visio 2003 on windows xp and also in a terminal server
environment running on server 2003. The problem is if there is a visio document on a network share with a folder name of "123 -stest" or "123 -stest" or "test -s", visio tries to reinstall itself and never opens the visio document. The same visio document can be copied to a folder that does not have a -s in the folder name and it opens just fine. During testing of this error, I noticed in order to recreate the error, the folder name cannot just be -s, or the visio document will open just fine. The name of the folder must be in the format of "something -s". The folder that we discovered this problem on was named "149 -Sonia Lastname". Does anyone have any idea what could cause visio to try to reinstall itself and never open a document because of a -s in the folder name containing the visio document? I hope I am making sense... Also, I'm aware that the easy fix would be to take the - out of the folder structures however these folders with the - in the names are part of an access database program created by one of our users and it would require extensive re-tooling of her application, the folders, and coding in order to remove the dashes. So as the good little sys admin that I am, I figured I would try to find a fix before I have her do a ton of work. Thanks for any help! Roy |
