Default Table of Contents

I have been asked to create a legal pleading in word; however, the legal pleading wizard cannot solve my problem. For this pleading, I must create a table of contents and a list of cases. I must create a shell document for the attorney to work in when he is typing his argument. What he would like is that whenever he adds a case in the text, or adds a new argument (heading), then it will automatically update the table of contacts or list of cases page. He says he was able to do this in Word Perfect in the past. Please help as I have to get this done ASAP!

Thanks.

This is a big project to tackle cold. What you are describing is not a
pleading but a brief.

See http://addbalance.com/usersguide/complex_documents.htm. It covers
creating a table of contents and a table of authorities (citations). He'll
need to use heading styles for his brief headings to have them show up in
the TOC. You may want to get one of the books linked to, there, as well. You
should be able to find them at Borders or Barnes & Noble.

Then, soon, you should start reviewing
http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm and the additional web links
on that page.
