Default Viewing Hotmail Web Pages in OE6

I would like to set OE6 to view my hotmail home page and Junk mail page. Is
there a way this can be done? This way it will be faster to move messages
from my junk folder to my inbox if necessary without using IE. Can this be
done?

Kind Regards
Chris

OE is an email client. When you use pop, it will download emails from the
Inbox on an email server.
To do what you want use Windows Live Mail using http access.

Thanks for the suggestion Ron. I have tried out Live mail and am not very
happy with it at the moment and prefer to continue to use OE6 for the time
being anyway. I may switch over in the future when I feel more confident and
can iron out some of the bugs. (eg. Live mail help appears in Greek but
that's another story!)

I have just discovered there is a link under the help filein OE6 to my
hotmail web page which could be useful. I was under the impression that OE6
can somehow be used With microsoft newsgroups and other web pages. Did I
misunderstand?

Kind Regards
Chris

OE supports:
- POP (e-mail receive transport)
- IMAP (e-mail receive transport)
- SMTP (e-mail send transport)
- DAV* (HTTP send/receive transport, IMAP-like access)
- NNTP (network news transfer protocol; for Usenet)

Live Hotmail supports:
- POP
- No IMAP support (not yet, been promised, we'll see)
- SMTP
- Deltasync* (replaces DAV; has not & never will be supported in OE,
available in Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2003/2007 with an add-on)

* DAV is supposed to remain available until September 2009. It is not
recommended to use DAV now since it'll be gone soon. Deltasync
replaces DAV for access to Hotmail's mail hosts via HTTP. See
http://windowslive.com/Connect/Post/...f-e7331638e929.

The HTTP transports supported by OE are for e-mail traffic, not for web
traffic (HTTP is merely used as the communication protocol over which
the DAV/Deltasync commands are sent/received). In Outlook, you can
change the "home page" used to display a folder when it is selected.
That means you could have a folder in Outlook that used HTTP to connect
to a web site (i.e., you would see the web site within the Preview pane
for that folder). That feature is not available in OE.

You could switch from POP to DAV but you won't get to use DAV for very
much longer (DAV gets disabled sometime this September). OE is a long
dead product. Functional development ceased in 2002 and security
updates ceased and the OE development group was disbanded in 2006.
There will no changes to OE to make it work with Hotmail's Deltasync
access method. There have been hints that Microsoft may add IMAP
support to Hotmail sometime later this year or early next year but that
promise was highly tenuous.

OE can be used for e-mail (using POP/SMTP, IMAP/SMTP, or DAV) and for
newsgroups (NNTP), not as a replacement or mini-featured web browser.

Thank you everyone for your help. I now have a clearer understanding of what
OE6 can and can't do. I also appreciate the links that enable me to view the
newsgroups in OE6.

Kind Regards
Chris

In this signature block, www.banthecheck.com resolves to
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blog...showentry=1564

I should be grateful if someone will explain how this is done.

Presumably *any* link shown in *any* post could be similarly disguised
and take 'the unsuspecting' to a fraudulent site.

Is this a correct assumption?
