Conditional Formatting on cells beginning with a hyphen
1. Place the cursor in A1 cell and select the Range
2. From menu FormatConditional Formatting 3. For Condition1Select 'Formula Is' and paste the below formula =LEFT(A1,1)="-" 4. Click Format ButtonFontColor select your desired font & Background Color pattern and then give ok Change the cell reference of A1 to your desired cell, if required. But keep in mind that when applying the conditional formatting the Active cell should be in the cell on which the formula is referred. For Example if you want to apply the conditional formatting for C Column when the formula is referring the C2 cell then place the cursor in C2 cell and select the whole C Column by pressing Cntrl+Spacebar and apply the below formula. =LEFT(C2,1)="-" If this post helps, Click Yes! -------------------- (Ms-Exl-Learner) -------------------- "Greg Lovern" wrote: Is it possible to do conditional formatting on cells beginning with a hyphen? Idea two: Select the cells to be formatted. Then FormatConditional formatFormula is=IF(LEFT(B1,1)="-",2)FormatPatterns'select a color'OK out. HTH Regards, Howard "Greg Lovern" wrote in message ...
