How did you transfer it, where did you put it, and what did you do with it?

As posted here many many times - do NOT use the import function to
transfer data from one Outlook to another.
I expect that having 1)copied it to your default location (did you
overwrite the existing file?) and 2) then imported, you have well and
truly corrupted your mail profile.
Create a new mail profile, and then follow these instructions:

Hi Karen,
I seem to experience the same problem as you with my iphone. Have you found
anything yet? It seems like big shot MVP (Russ Valentine) wants to argue more
than wanting to suggest a solution.

When no information is provided, no solution is possible. You failed to post
any information. Moreover, you failed to quote enough of an outdated thread
to tell what your problem is. That's not arguing. That's just reality. As a
courtesy to all, we recommend learning how to use newsgroups before posting
in them:

It is totally unacceptable not to be able to import info into Outlook
Contacts Folder - the architecture is dreadfully broken. Importing and
Exporting are industry ways of doing things - if you can't run your contact
management software on a proper database and allow import and export then I
suggest that with the proliferation of mobile devices and open source office
solutions Microsoft will lose a bunch of paying customers and employees will
lose their MVP positions.

The "industry standard?" How do you transfer your Word data to a new
installation? Do you import it?
I suspect not.
Pretty amusing that you think MVP's would lose anything over this. We are
not employees. We are just here to keep fellow users from making mistakes,
like thinking importing is the correct way to transfer data.

Russ, it seems that you get very frustrated when people don't know how to use
Outlook properly. The reason you are an "MVP" is to help people who don't
know as much about these things as you do. So don't get snippy when someone
does something that you think is stupid. It seems your position is to help,
not belittle.

I came to this thread for a solution to this problem and found nothing but a
petty argument. Useless. (Figures this is how Microsoft solves user problems)

Rather hard to see how you drew that conclusion. No one is frustrated when
users don't know how to use Outlook and ask questions. That's what the
newsgroups are for.
What's frustrating is to have users ignore the information we spend our
time posting here and insist that their methods should work instead of the
ones we provide. That becomes a waste of our time.

Dear All,

I've read the thread of messages and it seems a shame that any possibility
of resolving what seems to be a common problem is jepodised with unhelpful
comments aimed at the one person who may be able to help.

I have experienced a similar problem. I have just purchased a new laptop
with Vista and successfully did an Activesync with my PDA so it appears I
have all my contacts in the Contacts section of Outlook 2007. However, if I
use the "To" button when sending a new e-mail and select a contact, the
e-mail will not send. It works fine if I type the e-mail address in longhand.

Anyone know if there is a simple way of getting around this? Oh and please,
I do not understand most computer jargon so if there's a way of telling me in
simple everyday language that would be great!

Not possible because ActiveSync won't install and run an a Vista machine.
Vista uses the Windows Mobile Device Center, not ActiveSync.

So what does happen when you click To? Is your Contacts folder enabled as an
Address Book (right-click Contacts, choose Peoperties, select the Outlook
Address Book tab, and examine "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book")?

It sounds like your contact e-mail addresses are not resolved.

Try this - open your contact folder, select all and drag to your inbox.
This should open a new message with all of your contacts in the TO: field.
Click in the TO: field and select all, then press Ctrl+K to resolve all of
the addresses. Delete the mail without saving.

Now try again to see if you get your field completed when pressing the TO:
radio button.
