Default Syntax Error in properly working formula??

Hi,
Using Word 2002. I sought assistance in another post with the following
formula:

{ =Sum(Table1 B:B) \# "#,##0.00;- #,##0.00;''" }

(Thanks to Greg Maxey).

My problem now is that (even though this formula works great) IF I don't
update the field before I print the page I get an error:

$1,111.00!Syntax Error, "

This appears to be because I have my Tools | Options | Print | Update Fields
selected. When I de-select the Update Fields option I don't get the error.

I have noticed that when I right click the formula and choose Edit Field
when I look at the formula it appears as:
=SUM(Table1B:B)
That is, no space between Table 1 and B:B. No matter how many times I put it
in, it is automatically removed. Perhaps it's supposed to?

Is this enough clues for someone to help?

Thanks

Greg will be away for another week, and as you have not explained what went
on previously or how you are using the field, it is difficult to advise.
However if you take a table bookmarked as Table1 and you insert the field
you have posted outside the table. It totals column B correctly.
