Default Trobule with Product ID - Expires

Hi Jeff-

YES! That's the way the Microsoft is doing it!

When you purchase the software through OEM Partner Channels... not Retail
(a.k.a - Best Buys, Fry's Electronics) you get a credit card product key code
inside a seal packaged envlope from Microsoft and use it to activate the
media!

But, this only applies to OFFICE = not XP or VISTA, or even Windows 7. (At
least that's what I know about Windows 7).

Regardless of the facts, you buy the code key (credit card thingy) and
download the media of the OFFICE 2007 from the website he provided above and
BAM! You are set to go!

Hope that helps Jeffery, good luck in all of this.

Thanks DL-

That's what I was looking for... guess my customer should remove what he
has
on his machine, download, install this one and enter his key?

Thanks!

Jeffery,

As a reseller - Microsoft has changed how they sell their OEM software...
they don't sell the media anymore. Only the product key (which is the
vital
key to activate and install the software) - so, they sell a credit card
thingy with a product key on it, and you go to the site which DL stated
above
and download that software so that you can install and activate the
program.

I hope this makes some sense to you... it's MS way of saving a tree now
and
then.

I get that. That is the way I got XP -- except I also got a CD in the mail a
week or ten days later.

I had an old development kit copy of XP that worked fine until SP2 came
around, then it was flagged as an invalid installation through the
Authentication process. In any case, I suffered through various difficulties
until SP3 came out, then knuckled under and paid for XP. I bought it online,
they sent an e-mail with the Product Key that I simply pasted it into the
boxes that are provided for input.

Are you saying that YOU are a reseller, you sold a key to a guy that
downloaded the product, except he downloaded the Trial Version (I assume in
error because the trial version is offered free) and used your key to
activate it? It that's the case, then I'm starting to get this all dialed
in.
