Default Change color scheme in office 2007 other than the 3 choices.

Is there a way to change the color scheme to something other than the choices
that are given in office 2007? I am looking to do this without changing my xp
scheme also.

No.
The fourth "scheme" there is comes with the high contrast mode of XP.

Well that is too bad. I would think that as a user you would be able to
choose any scheme that you desire. Microsoft has lost my faith in them. I
guess that we will have to wait until another third party software maker
comes up with something to be able to change the scheme to whatever you want.

I don't think anyone will. The schemes seem to be hard-coded into Office
and involve thousands of different colors.

The three themes are all cold & depressing, especially in these "interesting"
times: Black and Blue. (Sigh!)

It would be nice if I could change the color scheme to ANYTHING but white!
It worked when I first installed Office 2007 and it was set to blue but when
I opened it after lots of updates had been installed it was white or 'Silver'
and it is impossible to change it from that. OS XP SP3 IE8 and ALL MS
updates have been installed.

Right Click the Desktop (not on an icon), select Properties, then click the
Appearance Tab. For Windows and Buttons, select Windows Classic Style from
the drop down list, then from the Color Scheme list, select the desired
color scheme.

There are limited color schemes for Windows XP Style, but lots of schemes
for Classic Style. If you want to insist on using the Windows XP Style,
then you can select the Advanced Button and go through the various Windows
elements and select custom colors.

The Color Scheme is not driven by Office 2007, it's driven by Windows XP,
EXCEPT that Word has a setting in ToolsOptions.General to set the screen to
blue background and white text. But the XP color options should define the
various elements of the Windows, and therefore define the colors used in
Word.

I think you have the wrong idea, perhaps I didn't explain myself very well.
In MSOffice 2007 there is an 'Options' button on all the elements, Word,
Excel, Access, etc to enable you to set the Scheme colour. The options are
Blue, Silver and Black. I have Nitro PDF Pro installed and it has been
sanctioned by MS to use the same layout as Office 2007 and I have that set to
blue as a less stark colour. MS Office was also set to blue and was fine
intil various updates were installed and now it has no colour at all and
cannot be set to any of the options.
