Access query is renaming output fields - dreadfully inconvenient
Hello,
I am running a select query with a lot of different output fields. These fields relate all information pertaining to a number of projects that may be new, closed, or in progress. Three of these fields are Requestor, Engineer, and Project Lead. These names usually come from the same table in the data records. In my query design I defined the output fields like so: Requestor: [HumanResource].[FirstName]&" "&[HumanResource].[LastName] Eningeer: [HumanResource].[FirstName]&" "&[HumanResource].[LastName] Project Lead: [HumanResource].[FirstName]&" "&[HumanResource].[LastName] When I run the query, all of the above field names are changed to "Project Lead"; there are no "Requestor" or "Engineer" field names. The actual data is correct. Obviously, I can deal with this, since I know where the output is going, but I'd rather have the right field names. Thanks in advance. |

Check the "Caption" property of the fields/columns in the query.

First thing to try would be disabling the Name AutoCorrect check boxes
under: Tools | Options | General. For details on the dozen or more problems associated with this misfeature, see: http://allenbrowne.com/bug-03.html If that does not solve the problem, you have a corruption. To get Access to rebuild your database: 1. Create a new (blank) database. 2. Turn off Name AutoCorrect. 3. Import everything: File | Get External | Import. -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP.
