Default Can I change the shape or size of the Text Insertion Point

Can you please help, a student of mine is having difficulty differentiating
between the insertion point and the 'I' pointer. Can one therefore change
the size of the Text Insertion point.

Hopefully someone out there will be able to help.

My interpretation of text insertion point is the cursor, if I'm correct, you
can go to the start button (In Word 2003), go to settings, then Accessibility
Options and select the Display tab, there you will see two options for the
cursor - blinking rate and width, then modify whichever one makes the most
sense to you.
