Default cannot delete a com add-in for outlook 2003

I get a similar message in my Outlook 2003 and there are no COM add-ins present. The error message refers to no named add-in. (blank message essentially) Why is this error popping up everytime I launch Outlook? It is very annoying. I am also using XP pro.

I'm using xp pro and when I open outlook 2003 I get this error message "C:\Documents and Settings\..\Office\SMCMSYNC.DLL is not a valid Office Add-in." When I check the com add-ins button to delete the add in it doesn't appear but he alert reappears. How do I get rid of the alert?

Did you upgrade from a previous version of outlook? Look for extend.dat and
delete it.

Thanks - I'll try that. I installed Office 2003 (which upgraded an office 2000 suite) I was using Outlook Express, prior to the upgrade to the full feature Outlook 2003.

I could not find a file by that name. Any other files that might be the cause?
