Filter-by-Form - Blank Form Displayed
I've got exactly the same problem - can anyone help please? Very
simple database using filter-by-form (sorry!) - getting blank form when no matching records found. Don't want to allow additions either. Can be rectified by clicking the filter-by-form menu button again, but I don't want to worry the user with it. Any help much appreciated. |

Hello,
This will happen as Access is protecting the data from users adding new data to the underlying table. All you have to do is educate users that when filtering for information, if a blank form appears, then this means no matches were found and the records can be easily restored by right clicking on the form and selecting Remove Filter/Sort from the pop-up menu. I use the On Filter event to display a custom form showing this message like a waringin message with a check box in it to act like a dialog box with a Do Not Show this Message again option. If you annoy a user enough but give them an option to stop the messages then they soon learn. You can also kick up a fuss and tell them to read the messages when they ring you for help saying they are looking at a blank form and do not know what to do! Anything to keep yourself entertained at work... :-) HTH, Neil. wrote in message ups.com... I've got exactly the same problem - can anyone help please? Neil,
Thanks for explaining this - it does make sense. It's only a little contract job I'm doing, so any problems will left for the permanent staff to sort out ;-) Cheers, Jon Neil wrote: Hello, This will happen as Access is protecting the data from users adding new data to the underlying table.
