Save as XPS or PDF

I posted this quesion to the general office group but, as I have not had any
responses, thought it may be appropriate to post it here to:
Hi,
I have Office 2007 Pro Plus installed and working on my Windows XP sp2 (plus
all current hotfixes) sysem but I have been trying to
use the safe as pdf and xps add-in and have not managed to get that to work
at all. I downloaded and installed the add in shortly after (finally)
successfully installing the Office 2007 Pro Plus package and I have the
options to save as pdf or save as xps in the save as menu. However, when I
try to save even a very simple text file (in fact, a text file opened in Word
2007 and then "converted" to 2007 format) to pfd or to xps, I get the error
message that "The export failed due to an unexpected error"...
I have tried removing the Save as PDF and XPS add-in and then reinstalling
it but I still get the same error message. The SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe installer
file is version 12.0.4518.1014 and I downloaded this directly from Microsoft.
Any suggestions for how I might get the add in working, or anything I should
try, would be most welcome.

PS I also have Acrobat 8 Pro installed. Is there a known conflict issue
between Acrobat Pro and the Save as pdf or xps add - on?

Hi Boris,

Although they may have recently updated to fix it, Adobe's position on Acrobat 8 is that it wasn't yet supported in Office 2007, but
would be, so the Acrobat add-ins can cause issues, but not sure if it would specifically be what you're seeing in this case but you
may want to try disabling the Acrobat add-in to see if that makes a difference.

Also is this in just one Office 2007 app or do you get the same result in Excel, Powerpoint, etc?

Thanks for getting back to me.
The issue seems to occur in all Office 2007 products (well, at least Word,
Excel and Powerpoint). When I select the save as pdf option, the conversion
starts but then terminates and I get the error message "An error occurred
while Powerpoint was saving the file" or "Document not saved. The document
may be open, or an error may have been encountered when saving." (Excel) or
"The export failed due to an unexpected error." (Word). For Powerpoint and
Excel, selecting save as \ pdf or xps brings up a "publish" dialogue with the
default to save to pdf selected. In Word, however, selecting the save as \
pdf or xps simply opens the save as dialogue box and you still have to select
pdf or xps from the drop down list. I have remover the Acrobat PDFMaker
Office COM Addin (the program specific add-ins do not load up any way as they
are not compatible with Office 2007 products and the only one of the Acrobat
addin that is loaded is the COM addin) but that has absolutely no effect. I
guess I could (but would prefer not to) uninstall Acrobat completely and see
what happens...
If you have any other suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Hi,

Apparently I do experience such problem but it happens when I click on
Send "Email as PDF Attachment" or "Email as XPS Attachment" in MS
Word 07. Neither PDF nor XPS works & an error appeared as "the export
failed due to an unexpected error".

The problem doesn't wide spread to other Office's applications (excel,
ppt).
And I able to use "Save as" function.

Any advice?

Hi guys,
I am new to this forum, so I may miss the answers given to the below
thread. If so please refer me to the link where the answer is written.
the problem I am facing is exactly the same as BORIS describes. Using
XP PRO SP2 +MS Office Pro 2007 I can't complete saving documents in PDF
nor XPF formats. I get the "the export failed due to unexpected error"
message as soon as I press the 'publish' bottom in the MS add-in to
office 2007.

Boris, I think it might relate to some conflict with Adobe (as I had
before Office Pro 2003 with Adobe writer plug-in); but since the
upgrade to 2007, I have tried deleting all related Adobe PDF maker
traces, re-intall office and the plug-ins re-install Adobe acrobat
reader. regedit looging for save as PDF traces etc...

please anyone - HELP?
