Default Prevent Overlapping Appointments

Does anyone know of a way to prevent / disallow attempts to create clashing
or overlapping appointments in a calendar???

Tools-options-calendar options-resource scheduling-do not accept
conflicting appointments.

Um... no such option in 2003? There's a similarly worded one about not
accepting conflicting meeting requests but I was hoping for a more obvious
and definite one for *any* attempt to created *any* kind of conflicting
calendar item.
