Default Paragraph spacing not working

I'm using Word 2002. I'm trying to add .6 of space after
the style Table Grid but it's not working. The text below
Table Grid is way too close to the Grid and hitting a hard
return results in a bigger space that is not consistent
with the rest of my document. If I put .6 above the style
text after Table Grid, that will affect that style used
throughout the document, when there is no Table Grid above
it.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
TIA,
Regina

Hi Regina,

"Space Before" and "Space After" are paragraph spacing, only,
and therefore don't apply to table styles.

You'd need to either stick an "empty" paragraph in there
(formatted to an exact line height, perhaps, also stored as a
style), or add an additional paragraph style to be used
immediately following a table.

FWIW, you could setup this paragraph style as to be the exact copy of
your real body text style, and set it be followed by this said style.

This helps tremendously when you are about to write your document -- not
much use when all is written already and you're about to do formatting
only ...
