Dynamic Report Data Columns
I have this application which has reports that have grow over time to include various columns, way more than the previous layout. What I have is a report, which was setup on a regular 81/2 X 11 sheet to now a legal 81/2 X 14 sheet. Still, the columns do not all fit.
Is there a dynamic method of swapping out columns that do not contain data for those that do, including their column header labels? This, if it exists, may be the only other way to approach this problem. If it I is possible to swap out columns containing null’s or zero (“empty string”) values for those that are greater than 0, then it may work. Can this be done? Has it been done by anyone in the past? If it has been done, can you please show us how it can be done? Thanks,……… |

Dynamic Report Data Columns
If I was providing paid support on this question, I wouldn't go any further
until I had a clear understanding of why and what type of fields/columns you are adding. This sometimes suggests un-normalized data and I wouldn't ask a client to pay for a work-around due to table structures that should be changed. Could you describe your tables and why you are adding fields? -- Duane Hookom MS Access MVP "Jay" wrote in message ... Dynamic Report Data Columns
Mr. Hookom:
You see, it's a crosstab query (that drives the whole thing) with column headers that go across the top of the 81/2 X 14 sheet with the data results listed vertically. Oh, the table is normalized okay, it's the number of products and their types that have increased over time requiring more real estate on the sheet/report! This is why, I am looking for a method of swapping out the data value in the column control's and header labels! Do you know of one??????? If you do, I'd appreciate hearing from you............ Thanks, again for chiming in Duane. I hope you are able to assist or know of some one that can. Thanks, again for chiming in Duane. I hope you are able to assist or know of some one who can. Dynamic Report Data Columns
Check out the crosstab report demos at
http://www.invisibleinc.com/divFiles.cfm?divDivID=4. The Crosstab.mdb has a report similar to what you are looking for. The report basically handles any number of columns since it will "wrap" extra columns under the first set of columns. Come on back if you have questions since I am the original author. -- Duane Hookom MS Access MVP -- "Jay" wrote in message ...
