Default Reinstallation of Microsoft Office Ultimate

I purchased Microsoft Office Ultimate a few months ago through the special
student deal that Microsoft had and I also purchased the back-up discs. I
just reformatted my computer and went to re-install Office, but it appears
that my CDs do not have a product key! I have the certificate of
authenticity and everything on it, but there isn't a product key to be found.
I even started to peel back the certificate thinking it might have been
hidden behind the sticker, but found nothing. Unfortunately, I never saved
the email with my product key because I figured that it would be on the CDs
that I was mailed after my purchase. How can I obtain my product key without
spending the fee of contacting support... after all, it's not my fault the
product key isn't on the sticker!

No, it is your fault that you threw away the email which also has the
contact information and order information that would allow you to obtain
another license key. No Microsoft installation CD/DVD has the activation
code included on the CD. It is, if retail or OEM, on a sticker on the
CD/DVD case. Since you already had the key why would you think MS would
duplicate the key on a sticker on your backup CD/DVD? The logistics of
putting the same key on the email and the CD/DVD case would be ridiculous.

Since you have already reformatted the computer you won't be able to use one
of the many programs that can read the activation code off of the hard
drive.

Your only option now is to attempt to contact Microsoft and hope. Fully
read the information in this and the linked articles from Microsoft and if
you can't comply with the requirements for a new key you will probably have
to repurchase it.

The Academic Alliance agreement provides one product key per media set, and
the key cannot be regenerated if it is lost. You should ALWAYS keep emails
that contain important information about something that you purchased online.

Sorry we don't have better news for you...
