Default Escaping the text mode.

I have Visio Professional 2003. When I press escape or click outside text
box it won't let me escape the text mode. The same is for the connector
tool. I've tried reinstalling the program and that didn't help. Is there a
setting that I need to change? I've used Visio for 8 years so I'm not a
novice. It's been this was since I switched to Professional 2003. Anyone
have any ideas of how to correct this? It's driving me crazy.

Are you unable to get out of the text editor for a shape or unable to switch
away from the Text tool? Escape, F2 and clicking outside a shape will quit
the text editor. Clicking on the Pointer tool switches away from the Text
tool.

Here's what is happening. I try clicking outside a shape and the text editor
will not quit. I have no problem switching from text editor to the pointer
tool or to the connector tool. The problem is getting the text editor,
pointer tool, or connector tool to quit. Like you said, I've tried clicking
out side the shape as well as pressing Escape and neither works. I have not
tried F2. Any more suggestions to try? It almost seems like it is a
"setting" issue, but I don't know where to begin. Thanks

I'm not clear what you mean by "won't quit". After editing the text of a
shape and clicking outside, what do you see? Are you clicking outside on a
blank area of the page or clicking on another shape? Does switching tools
exit text edit mode?
