Default Word 2010 Saving Templates

Does anyone know why Word 2010 does not default to the standard C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates? Excel and Powerpoint 2010 still do. For most users, it's hard enough to find them, but this seem to add to the frustration. Because when the save a template, and typically it will end up in "My documents", then if they go to File- New - My templates, they are not listed. In the Options-Advanced-save- File locations, it will show the default location AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates? but it really doesn't go there unless you direct the files to that location. Is there a good work around for this?
Thanks for any help.
