I purchased my PC from Dell and recently had to reformat
my hard drive because they were unable to recover the os.
With my Pc came microsoft works suite 2002. After
reformattoing I reinstalled my CD's for worksuite but I
no longer have the paper jacket for the cd with the
product code. I contacted Dell and told them my issue but
to my surprise they said that they could not give me the
code since the 2002 version had some kind of permission
issue and I need to contact microsoft to get the code.
The program is completely unavailable without the code
and Support is not there on the weekend. I am somehow
unable to contact online support and need to use word to
complete a deadline for work asap. Please help.

Since it Works Suite Oem disk, Dell is responsible and should have
the key on file. I would call the back and remind them of their oem
agreement with Microsoft. (Assuming your computer under warranty).

I bet if you told the you would like to return the computer. The
would give you the key.

Sorry, but as the licence is OEM, Dell is responsible for *ALL* support -
including replacement keys and media. MS cannot, will not and does not
assist with OEM-provided software. Your only recourse is with Dell.

Maybe you'd like to ask the CSR or TSR what this fictitious "permissions
issue" is, exactly? Apart from a load of crap, obviously.

You're going to have to keep on at Dell - escalate if necessary.
