Default Help! (Help files not working)

I'm using Office Ultimate 2007. When I try to use the help files in they
just don't work. I have the table of contents, but clicking on an item does
nothing. Just, nothing happens... This seems to be an Office-wide problem.
My Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint help files simply no longer work
either. I know they used to work, but now they simply don't function.

If anyone knows how to bring the help features back to life I'd really like
your help! TIA.

JUST A GUESS HERE,
But have you tried reinstalling Office, and selecting Complete instead of
Minimal or Custom? Custom lets you deselect some portions of the program,
Help among them.

Default Help! (Help files not working)

Thanks, Jeff. I was hoping there would be a quicker, easier solution...
The help files used to work (last time I tried to use them, maybe 3 weeks
ago..?), and my installation hasn't changed since then.

If this is the only way, I'll try it when I get home tonight. (Don't have
my Office disc here now.)

If they worked once but do not work now, then they ought to still work
unless somebody has been in your PC deleting files or altering Registry
settings.

I suppose that either way, you have to repair the installation ...

I tried repairing the installation... no change.
I tried updating the installation using the add/change feature... no change.

Specifically, this is what is happening... (It's very strange.)

I have a "?" help symbol, and when I click it the help box opens.

If I type something into the search box and press the Enter key, nothing
happens.

If I click the little book symbol, the table of contents opens.

If I click on an item in the table of contents, the sub-menu opens in the
table of contents.

If I click on a sub-menu item (one with a "?" symbol next to it), nothing
happens.

In other words, it looks as if everything is there and should be working,
but I'm not able to actually get any help!

If you have any further ideas about how to fix this, I'd be very grateful!
:-)

Thank you,

~quitelikely
