Default Outlook Password wont save .. for send, or receive.

It wont stay when placed into the account set-up. It asks to enter everytime
send-receive is pressed. When I went back into accoutn setup, it was gone.
It asks me over, and over, every time, even though I checked save password
(or remember) in setup, and everytime it asks me in the send-recieve pop-up.

I have read so many posts suggesting the same article and the same fixes it's
like Ground Hog's Day!

We have so much brain power in here, I am suprised we cannot come up with a
fix for an apparent common problem.

2003, 2007, xp, vista no matter, this thing just WON'T REMEMBER PASSWORD for
many of us, we should be able to figure this out - lets put our collective
craniums
together here

My particular setup is XP, Outlook 2003 on an HP Pavillion Laptop, no Domain
(but, had one in the past!)

You really good troubleshooters have to be getting BORED of the same old
questions.

It'll be a breath of fresh air to actually find a solution that is NOT
already on the MS site's pool of "Knowledge" .

I have Created a new profile.
Tried the Registry fix.
Even reloaded Outlook,
AND reloaded the entire XP!

Did everything in the MS thread with the multiple possibilities.
AS DID everyone in here, apparently.

....but, there is obviously some snake still hiding in Mr. Gates' garden that
keeps biting several of us!

Something we are missing.

Like House always says "DIFFERENTIAL!"

We need to pull the brains of all the people haing this trouble together.
There are several threads on this topic, BUT none have come to resolution.
All suggesting the same basic moves, but to no avail.

Is there a place where passwords hide, that might have an old, different one
stored from a past implementation, like if the PC was once on a Domain?

SoMeThInG?!?

Thanks
Nick

Sorry, but "G-mail" and "Comcast" aren't types of accounts. Your responses
will be one or more of "POP", "IMAP", "Exchange" or "HTTP"

Suggest joining with me and others to file a class action lawsuit against
microsoft.

Default Outlook Password wont save .. for send, or receive.

After months of pulling out my hair, I went out and Purchased the upgrade
from Outlook 2003 to 2007, but it STILL WONT SAVE THE PASSWORD.

But, now I qualified for Microsoft support, and guess what, the first guy
took me through the same circus we have been going through here, but the next
one was PURE GENIUS!

Here was the Resolution/Recommendations: -
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders\AppData". AppData is of type REG_EXPAND_SZ and should contain
the value: "%userprofile%\Application Data" - when password prompt in outlook

I DONT HAVE TO ENTER MY PASSWORD ANYMORE
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY !!!!!

Hope this helps someone else.

Nick

That makes a lot of sense, since Outlook expects to store send/receive data
in that folder. What puzzles me is why that reg key wasn't there.

Yeah, me too! Perhaps we should add that to our list of things to check, cuz,
apparently something makes it dissappear.

THANK GOD I found this post! I have been thru this same runaround for weeks
and this solution worked for me as well. (XP + Outlook 2007).
