Visio hangs

I can save a drawing or a template in Visio 2007, but when trying to save a
stencil, Visio hangs up.

Do you have the latest service pack for Visio 2007, should be service pack
1. What types of objects are contained in the stencil causing the issue?
Are they all Visio shapes or does it contain foreign objects such as jpegs?
How long are you waiting before you consider that Visio is hung? What is
the processing power of your computer and are you running any other
applications at the same time?
