Default Quatation Marks overlapping

I have a word (Word 2007) document where quotation marks are ovlapping the
first couple letters after the quation mark. I have to type the quotes and
then space 3 or 4 times to get it to look properly. Does anyone know how to
fix this? It does not occur in a new blank document and it actually just
started occuring in this document this morning (it was fine yesterday)

Thanks!

You could try closing the offending document and opening it by going
through Office Button Open select the file choose Open and
Repair from the "Open" dropdown button at the lower right.

If that doesn't work, you could try copying the entire document except
the final paragraph mark and pasting it into a new blank document.
