why can't word 2007 have a notetaking facility as in MAC version?

This facility in MAC is extremely useful. But unfortunately, I only have MAC
at my office and not at home. All my other computers (both desktop and
laptop) are running windows.
I find the note taking thing very cool even though one can do it by opening
another document but still it is not that convenient.
Just a thought.

Most people here are using Word for Windows, so if you could describe
the feature in a bit of detail, we might know of an alternative.

What do you mean by "notetaking"? Does it have anything to do with
existing Word files, so maybe Comments would serve the same function?
How do you access it in Word?

In a nutshell, the Mac Word notebooks are ordinary Word documents with a
specialised user interface that presents the document as a "ruled
notebook" with tabs. Each tab corresponds to a Word document section.
You can choose the "page header" for each section using a dropdown that
lets you choose from the { AUTHOR } field, the { CREATEDATE } field and
the { SAVEDATE } field.

If you save your notebook as a .docx and open it in (say) Word 2007, you
get to see the document content you would expect, but not the
specialised UI.

It is only my opinion but I suspect Microsoft would point any user on
Windows wanting such a facility to OneNote.
