Word document doc.x can't be read

Default Word document doc.x can't be read

I save word documents as doc.x but reciptants say they can not read and the
document needs to be saved as a doc. how do I do this please?

Default Word document doc.x can't be read

The file format for 2007 is .docx not .doc.x
If you have 2007, there is an option to save the file format to 93-2003 .doc
format.
Also the recipients can always download the 2003 compatibility software,
which should automatically ask when trying to open the .docx in 2003. This
only takes a few minutes.
