Default Office 2007 Help Files Problem

I have a problem with an OEM copy of Office 2007 Pro. on 1 of my clients'
computers. This was installed to a known good PC running Windows XP SP2 with
all the latest patches etc. installed. On installation, I chose to 'Run all
from my computer' and the installation went apparently without issues. The
product activated fine and works perfectly except for the help files/screen.

When I click on the blue help button (the one with the '?') the install
program appears to come back and says it is configuring Office. This then
finishes and says a re-boot is required. As soon as I click OK, a warning
message appears to say that no help files are available. After the machine
re-boots, if I click on help again it goes through exactly the same process.
It never seems to install the help system.

I have tried uninstalling the product and re-installing - this has had no
effect whatsoever. I have tried running repairs. Same. Nothing. Still no help.

Anyone any ideas what might be wrong or how I might fix it?

Thanking you in advance

Ian

Have you tried clicking the individual options for the helpfiles during the
installation. I mean when you have the choice for install you can choose
custom and then choose for the different options to install from my computer.
Go to the specific parts for the helpfile and click 'run from my computer'
often this would do the trick. Choosing 'run from my computer' in general
will skip this sometimes (and some other features as well).

Default Office 2007 Help Files Problem

Hi, thanks for the response. There are no individual help file options - in
fact there is no option to install help or otherwise anywhere in the install
tree.

I think the problem lies elsewhere.

Regards

Ian
