Default Straight connector (Visio 2000)

Websites show that visio connectors can be straight connectors. For
post-2000 versions, you can simply select the straightness by right-
clicking the connecting line. I don't have this option on Visio
2000. Haven't been able to find out how to make a connector straight
from the online help, nor from the web. I've been using the line tool
instead, but am wondering whether that could the source of the
problems I've been encountering. Is it possible to specify a straight
connector in Visio 2000?

select the connector(s)
menu Format - Behavior
Connector tab and select style = straight

OK, now I wonder if there is a way to have connecting lines made with
the drawing tool converted into lines made with the connection tool
(in one swoop, rather than individually)?
