Office 2007 Ribbons
With all due respect to the new Office 2007 "Ribbon" menues, is there a way
to show "classic" toolbars like Office 2003? I just spent 2 hours looking in PowerPoint 2007 for a feature I used several times a day in 2003. I understand the Ribbons to be for the 80% people. Problem is, I'm one of the 20%. thanks, RickB |

Office 2007 Ribbons
Hi Rick,
There isn't a classic view of the Office 2007 structure. The prior version shortcut keys generally work and you may want to start off by adding the Powerpoint 'Getting Started' Ribbon tab which gives you some quick cutovers to the 'where is it' type of stuff http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...DisplayLang=en Once you've got the hang of it, you can easily drop the addin. There are similar ones for Word 2007 and Excel 2007 available from http://microsoft.com/downloads in the Office section. (Note that the same information is available through the Help menu in the new Office 2007 apps, and from the 'Help and How to' tab of http://office.microsoft.com ============== "RickB" wrote in message ... If customizing the Ribbon would help you, then you should look into
RibbonX (http://pschmid.net/office2007/ribbonx) or my RibbonCustomizer add-in linked below. Office 2007 Menu Could be show again
In fact, Office 2007 Menu and Toolbars could be show again. Just download and
install Classic Menu for Office 2007 from http://www.addintools.com/english/menuoffice , you will see the Main Menu Bar, Standard Toolbar, Formatting Toolbar in Excel 2007, Word 2007 and PowerPoint 2007. |

Office 2007 Ribbons
Hey rick, even I had the same problems when I started with Office 2007. But
the COMMAND REFERENCE GUIDE helped to get used to the office 2007 menu and ribbon. It was a matter of 2 weeks. This is a good tool which displays the office 2003 window. You can select the options you wanted from the 2003 menu and this will show you how to access that feature in 2007. For this go to help (you have to be connected to office online) and then key in Command reference guide or interactive and click on start the guide when you get it. I can say if you want to get used to office 2007 this is your best friend. AND I would not recommend any addins for the same "RickB" wrote: With all due respect to the new Office 2007 "Ribbon" menues, is there a way to show "classic" toolbars like Office 2003? Office 2007 Ribbons
I know I'm on here a year after you posted, but I HATE Word 2007. I hate that
the ribbons aren't customizable or that I have to do serious work-arounds or buy some sort of 3rd party product to change them. If I want decent-sized screen buttons (such as n the ribbons), then my screen is littered with all sorts of commands that I don't want, never use, or use exceedingly rarely, while the cammands that I use all the time are buried or I have to put them on the Quick bar -- so that they are not with ribbon commands with which I would normally group them. For example, I frequently use Character Scaling, which i normally set next to the other text editing commands (like Bold, Italics, etc.). But I can't do that because I can't modify the useless ribbon. So my option is to make my own tiny Quick menu and always minimize the ribbons. Stupid stupid stupid. I like that Microsoft in their tutorial for Word 2007 waste my time by pointing out that I am free to choose between 3 color schemes for my Word windows. The bottom line is that I have this new super-charged product, and mainly I have to waste time finding work-arounds because it can't do what the older version did. I really really hate having to waste time because the design team didn't consider the way I use a computer. Office 2007 Ribbons
And I wonder why people purchase Office 2007 after reading all about the "horrid" ribbon and then come here to complain loudly, rather than use the version that works for them? I should know better by now, I guess.

Office 2007 Ribbons
Why did i buy Word 2007? Good question. I bought it because i thought
Microsoft would not throw out user control but would increase it. I thought the newer updated product would be essentially similar to previous products with some improvements. I bought it because i had a computer crash and had to move quickly before i could do any real research. And as another nonhelpful reply observed, I guess that makes me a fool. Thank you Microsoft for making me feel like a fool for buying your product. I've owned computers for a few decades now, so i should know better than to assume that an upgrade or a new version is actually an improvement. Fool me twice, shame on me...
