Office Ultimate: can I choose which Drive I install to - C or D et
Hi
this may seem a rather stupid question but am I able to install a copy of Office Ultimate 2007on any Drive I choose. I have multiple partitions on a single Hard drive and Office Ultimate installed itself onto Drive C without offering me a choice. This is not convenient for me - I do my very best to have only my OS on Drive C which has saved me enormous grief on the two occasions I've had to re-install my OS. Is there any way of having it install on say Drive D. I haven't been able to find anyone else asking this question on FAQ's or this forum - is this because I am novice or is it not an issue to any one else? |

You have to perform a Custom install, selecting the appropriate path in the
process PS If you install apps to another partition & have to reformat your C you will still have to reinstall all your apps, In your previous case you must have done a repair installation of Win, which you can still do if your apps are installed to C. So your setup makes no sense from a recovery perspective. "k2hsharpe" wrote in message ... thanks DL
I'd actually forgotten about custom installs, most of the small apps I install these days seem to automatically offer alternative install destinations. Your answer has been immensely helpful. And it is true that after a full OS reinstall on Drive C I have to reinstall all software on the other partitions, but everything else is still there. For example, I may have to re-install my photo editing software on Drive E but my hundreds of images are still there and accessible immediately I re-install the photo software. This system a legacy from before affordable portable hard drives made back up easy. Again, many thanks for your response, it's cheered me up immensely "DL" wrote: You have to perform a Custom install, selecting the appropriate path in the process PS If you install apps to another partition & have to reformat your C you will still have to reinstall all your apps, In your previous case you must have done a repair installation of Win, which you can still do if your apps are installed to C. Generally you can either set the data location, in apps, and or move your My
Documents folder to another drive/partition "k2hsharpe" wrote in message ... thanks DL I'd actually forgotten about custom installs, most of the small apps I install these days seem to automatically offer alternative install destinations. for some reason I've never used the My Documents folder, don't know why, and
it's too late for my poor old computer that is about due for the knackery. Hopefully sometime early this year I'll get a new one and given your post I'll explore the possibilities of the My Documents folder then. Again, many thanks for your help above, Office happily reinstalled to another drive last night. Now I just have to learn how to use it (laughing)))) "DL" wrote: Generally you can either set the data location, in apps, and or move your My Documents folder to another drive/partition "k2hsharpe" wrote in message ... thanks DL I'd actually forgotten about custom installs, most of the small apps I install these days seem to automatically offer alternative install destinations.
