Default Office 2007 Pro will not install: Error installing

I tried about 100 times to install Office 2007 Pro. I installed from a OEM
Disk and it validated but when needing to run the repair feature from ADD
REMOVE in XP the message said there was an error occurred and can not
install.
I tried using the free download from MS and I thought that would install but
no luck.
I ran an xp repair and after that nightmare, I still can't get the
installation in.
I put in the Product Code and it starts but only 3 minutes later I get the
error that I listed above.
Now what can I do?
I was told to do a fresh xp install but I'll do with out if that is what I
have to do. Office xp is working fine on this PC.
I have done everything I can get my hands on from Knowledge Base but nothing
works. I'm not new to this but this is crazy.

Do I take it you want to install Office 2007 in parallel with OfficeXP?

What repair feature, for which version, were you trying to run and why?

You dont actually give the exact err.msg

What free MS Download did you use?

Default Office 2007 Pro will not install: Error installing

The error is the same every time. "Office 2007 Professional encountered a
problem and is unable to install"
Even the free trail Office 2007 Pro starts to install and then stops.
I used MS Knowlege Base and found all the poop on removing the suite's
folders and registry and it took forever. Still same problem.
The program installed once and when I tried to add features is when this
happened.
So I put office xp back on so I had something to use.
I tryed removing Office XP completely, NightMare. And loading Office 2007
Pro from my OEM disk, and same error and stall every time.
What the F?

OKAY ALL YOU HAVING THIS ISSUE, HERE IS THE ONLY WAY I FOUND THAT WORKS.
You have to uninstall Office 2007 prosessional by yourself in pieces. MS has
a link to do this, too bad the programmers didn't do it for us.

Default Office 2007 Pro will not install: Error installing

Hi

I found this and started wading through it but unfortunately some of
the files and folders that routine implies should be there (the ones
that do not say 'if') were not present. I think even this will turn out
to be a waste of time.

I am going to rollback to what I think was a previously good working
image of my system but how do I prevent this happening again. Do we
know (Does MS know) what the cause is?

Well, forget about everything I said before. The only way I was able to
install office pro 2007, was to do a clean install of the xp os and reload
everything. It took care of all my problems. It wasn't that bad. If you're
having this same problem, take a weekend and do it.
