Default can I use 1 licence of MS office 2007 professional on 5 computers?

Hi,

We have 5 computers in our company and we want to upgrade our Office 2007
prof to full version. My question is can we buy 1 licence copy for US$ 400
and use it on 5 computers?

No
As a business 1 licence for 1 PC, unless you purchase a volume licence, for
the required number of PC's (minimum I believe 5)

Volume licencing pricing is different to retail licencing
A volume licence starts from 5 licences, minimum
You need to contact an MS Volume licencing agent / supplier in your area to
asertain the price.

PS Re reading your post I would guess you mean you have a trial version of
Office installed, you would need to uninstall any trial, together with
activation assistant, then reboot prior to installing any paid for version.
A trial version doesnt qualify for an upgrade version

Dont believe so.

Its often the case that purchasing online from MS is more expensive than
purchasing from an agent/seller, and you dont have to pay extra for the dvd

This is one reason why so many businesses just buy Office Home and Student
for $149, even less now in
some stores and install it on 3 PCs. Purchase two copies for less than $300
and install on six computers.
Doing it this way is in violation of the license and one could be prosecuted
for it, however, even though
Microsoft has a building full of lawyers, I seriously doubt they can police
all businesses, and how can they
really tell? With today's economy and thousands of small businesses going
out of business, software companies
must also reconsider the high costs of their multi user licenses. Small
business is just not going to pay out a
thousand dollars so they can use Office. Open Office is a great alternative
however and I see more and more
businesses using it instead of Office.

If business ethics allow one to purchase Office H&S, install on 6 computers,
put up with the banner on all produced documents/spreadsheets/powerpoints
"not for commercial use", then I would not want to do business with them.

You pay for what you want or find a free alternative. You don't game the
manufacturer.
