Installing office when you have no CD drive

I just purchased Home and Student edition. My new computer has the trial
version which is Office Professional. From reading various posts, I gather
that the best way to install the new license is to first uninstall the trial
version. Then install the new purchase. The problem is that the purchase
came in CD format. My little hp laptop does not have a CD drive. Is there a
way to load the software online and then enter the product key to activate
the software?

Do you have another computer? If not, do you have a friend with a computer
with a CD drive? If yes, ask the friend to copy the complete Office CD to
their hard drive and then copy it to a thumb drive. Use that to install on
your laptop.

You might want to buy a USB optical drive since you will need it to install
other software besides Office. You can find them for very little money -
usually less than $50.

I tried what you said I copy the software to my thumb drive but I can not
get it to install from my thumb drive. Please help.

HELP! I have the same issue with my dell netbook. I need specific directions
on how to copy the program from my computer to a thumb drive and then from
the thumb drive to the netbook. I have tried this and it didn't work.

If you need those sort of instuctions ......... need I say more?
Insert cd/dvd into your PC, when the cd starts the installation screen close
that screen, Open Explorer, navigate to the cd drive, copy all files on the
cd to thumb drive.
Insert thumb drive into netbook.
Open explorer, navigate to thumb drive, double click the setup file
