Emailing photos in OE
I have XP Home Sp3 and Outlook Express. I am able to email a photo from "My
Pictures "folder by clicking on the photo I select from a sub folder and then via the "File and Folders Tasks". This opens the photo as an attachment in a new message in OE. However when I want to "Insert" a picture in my OE message OE lets me browse as far as ''My Pictures" folder and then freezes. I subsequently loose my message and have to start again beginning from the "My Pictures" folder. Why does inserting a picture in OE not work? |

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try composing such a message in a new Named Identity... File | Identities | Add new identity Assuming all is well, (1) configure your Mail and News accounts in the new identity, (2) compact all folders in the old identity, (3) import messages from the old identity into the new one, and then (4) delete the old one (File | Identities | Manage Identities). To avoid such corruption in futu - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection: Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ John wrote: I have XP Home Sp3 and Outlook Express. Have you by chance installed the IE8 Beta? It's known to cause similar
problems. If so, uninstall it and return to your earlier IE version. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "John" John@nomail wrote in message ... Thanks Michael, no I haven't IE8Beta.
I'll have a go at PA Bear's suggestion later to see if it works for me. The "insert" a picture is the only problem in my OE, everything else works OK. "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ...
