Location of photos sent as attachments?
Am I correct in thinking that pictures sent as attachments are stored
in the Temporary Internet Files? If so, does this mean that unsaved photos are at risk of being lost if the cache is emptied or the PC crashes? OE6, XP Pro SP2 TIA, -- Martyn Tindall Leeds, England, United Kingdom |

Every time you open an attachment, a file is created in TIF folder, yes, but
the attachment will still open if you delete TIF files or if the computer "crashes." An attachment isn't really saved anywhere unless and until YOU have chosen to save it to your HDD. No, all attachments stay with the message. When you open an attachment, it
is decoded and placed in Temporary Internet Files. OE storage files are subject to corruption. Each OE folder is contained in a dbx file. Any corruption of the dbx file can result in the whole file becoming unreadable. Emptying the cache will not lose unsaved attachments. Corruption to an OE dbx file can result in the loss of messages along with the attachments. -- Ron Sommer "Martyn Tindall" wrote in message ... Wait a minute, I may have misread your post: Pix that YOU have sent as
attachments are only located on your hard-drive. I asked because, for the first time, I tried double-clicking an attachment in the email itself. It opened in the Windows viewer, but clicking "Next" and "Previous" threw up graphics from web pages. That's why I thought they must just be dumped in the cache. Regards, Martyn "Martyn Tindall" wrote in message ... I always save attachments I want to keep, of course, but I wondered whether they were at risk until I did. Also see my reply to Ron. OT: Why isn't WinXP SP3 installed yet? I'm tempted to ask whether I really need it, but I know you'll say I do... g Regards and thanks again, Martyn ~~4agent ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Martyn Tindall wrote: Am I correct in thinking that pictures sent as attachments are stored in the Temporary Internet Files?
