Default Product ID For Online Support

I have been trying to resolve a problem with Outlook
2003. I have been given several suggested fixes for the
problem by an MS tech via a newsgroup. He cannot resolve
the problem for me, so I am trying to submit an online
tech support incident. However, each time I try, and
enter my product id for MS Office 2003, purchased a
couple of weeks ago, I keep getting asked to enter the
product id in the correct format, which I have done
numerous times. How can I get this resolved so that I can
submit an online support request? Thanks

What format is being requested? The installation ID used to start the
install or the PID from Help-About? If the PID has OEM in it, Microsoft
does not offer support - you will need to go the OEM from whom you purchased
your machine for assistance.

By the way, what is the problem you are trying to resolve?

The format requested is the PID and the format is xxxxx-

OK, so I recreated a new group from scratch and deleted
the old profile. I also did a find to locate any file on
my pc that contains srs, but there are no files with an
srs extension, either before or after I created the new
profile. Not sure what that means. Anyway, neither action
has fixed the problem. Still no send\receive at start up,

receive mail. Thanks

rebuilt
my mail account from scratch and I disabled my firewall,
all to no avail.Outlook will still not send and receive

tried to post the problem to MS via Support but for some

In general, here are the reasons automatic
polling might
fail in Outlook: 1. You have created an unrealistic=20
polling
interval. Many users set their polling interval to 1=20
minute thinking they will
be downloading mail continuously as it arrives. Such=20
settings are
not recommended. They put an unnecessary strain on mail=20
servers and can
create conflicting polling requests that can damage your=20
Send/Receive
Group or even your account settings. 10 minutes is the=20
recommended minimum.
2. While exiting Outlook, you inadvertently set
your profile to Work Offline this option is immediately=20
above the Exit
command in the File menu). 3. You have a damaged=20
Send/Receive Group as
documented he
http://support.microsoft.com/support...cles/q312/3/36
..asp
4. You have overridden your Send/Receive Group settings
as documented he
http://support.microsoft.com/support...cles/q320/8/36
..asp
5. Your mail account settings are corrupt. Recreate
your mail account from scratch.
6. Firewall software is blocking your transmission.
Disable your Firewall temporarily to see if automatic=20
polling is
restored.

Not sure about support for the Home Use program since it is so very new.
Have you tried searching the Microsoft support site for the keywords "Home
Use Program" or Software Assurance? They may have a separate support option
that is not currently listed since the program is so new.

I will also look into it on my end and let you know what my contacts tell
me.

I did find a page off the Office web site that provided=20

that there was anything different about support policies.=20
As far as I can tell, I should be able to submit an=20

Have you tried searching the Microsoft support site for=20

the keywords "Home=20
Use Program" or Software Assurance? They may have a=20

separate support option=20
that is not currently listed since the program is so new.

I will also look into it on my end and let you know what=20

me.
