Emergency! Sort Issues
I sorted a list in excel - - ascending. Now, I need it to go back to its original order. I did not save a copy before doing this, ugh!
There does not seem to be a way to undo the sort. I should have filtered, I know! Can anyone help????? If I cannot undo the sort, is there a way to retrieve an earlier copy of this file??? Thanks a lot! Sam |

Emergency! Sort Issues
If you haven't done much more after the sort, you can undo the sort.
Just do enough UNDOs till you get where you want to be. If you have done something that clears the undo stack (run a macro, saved the file, etc.) or have done so much work that the sort operation is no longer undoable, you will have to find a copy somewhere. If you had the option 'always make a backup' enabled, and you saved the file only once, XL will have created a backup of the previous version. Use it. Finally, you will have to find the file on some backup. If this problem is at work, check if the IT folks make a backup automatically each night. But, hurry. They might -- should not, but might -- keep only one day of backup, overwriting yesterday's files with today's files. -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Excel, PowerPoint, and VBA add-ins, tutorials Custom MS Office productivity solutions In article , says...
