Whenever I try to close a Word 2002 document, I get the above message. The
other application is "AppData" and I'm asked if I want to change the global
template. How do I stop this from happening?

I think I solved the problem. I found this at the Dell forum
(http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...204350#M49504).
I went to Tools, Options, SAVE, and then clicked off "Prompt to Save Normal
Template". (Actually, I think I checked it, then unchecked it.)

This is like taking the batteries out of your smoke detector because it
beeps. When you disable this option, you give Word carte blanche to save
Normal.dot without asking our permission. See “Word prompts me to save
changes to the Normal.dot template” at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...514521033.aspx
