Default Office XP Excel won't open after install

I have installed Office XP on my new computer. All
programs except Excel work fine. I migrated settings and
programs from my old computer, which ran Office 2000
Premium. Did a complete uninstall after migration, then
installed OXP. no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Chip Pearson has some notes to help diagnose startup problems at:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.htm

You may want to share a more descriptive explanation of what happens to get a
better answer.

What goes wrong and when?
Have you reinstalled xl2002?
Maybe just reregistering excel will help

windows start button
excel /unregserver
then
excel /regserver

(should reset the windows registry back to factory defaults)
