Need to Avoid Request to Set Up Voice Activation

Quite frequently when I start up Excel 2002 under XP Home
on a Gateway P-4 I am prompted by a pop-up to activate
voice activation. I have to click a couple of "no" boxes
to knock down these dialogue screens before being able to
continue with Excel. How can I disable these voice
activation prompts? [I believe this sometimes happens with
Word as well.]
