Default Outlook2003 Archive Restore Question

After a complete XP Pro SP3 reinstall, I have just re-installed Outlook'03
and imported OK the outlook backup.pst file (with "Work Offline" checked)
from my external HD, and the personal folders, calendar and contacts appears
to be exactly as I last backed it up.

However, when I restored the archive1 backup.pst it added the emails back
into my main pst folders vs. re-creating the archive folder as I expected.
Is that is what is suppose to happen? If so, I take it the next step is to
just activate the File/Archive process and go from there?

Alternatively, I recall seeing a link in one of the posts here about a way
to change the pst file to remove the restrictions on its file size (with the
archived emails the pst file is now up to 1.7gig) -- can someone provide me
a link or point me to the correct topic on this board to get more
information?

Thanks in advance....

Default Outlook2003 Archive Restore Question

If you imported what else did you expect?
All youve done is import all data into your current data file
You dont import native outlook data you simply open the pst file within
outlook

The backup files are simply copies of the data files named backup.....pst

Default Outlook2003 Archive Restore Question

I'll take your reply DL as confirming it worked as it should. As I mentioned
I was "hoping" the archive would just be imported as a separate folder in OL
and the archive file would be the same or similar as before. So thanks for
the confirmation all is as it should be....

Importing means adding the external data to your existing data store. If you
want the archive to show as separate folders, open it, don't import it.

Importing a PST is never the correct way to restore. Opening is.
