Default message rules wont apply

I try to make some new rules and it accepts the new #1 rule (move names in from line to folder). I try to establish rule #2 and it appears to take. establish #3 and it looks good. Left OE6 and returned later to check mail and mail that should have gone to new folders or deleted were in the inbox. went to message rules and only rule showing is rule #1. How/what do I do to get add'tl rules to remain in effect?

The tree, when expanded should look somewhat similar to this:

{GUID or big, long number for the identity}
Software
Microsoft
Outlook Express
5.0
Block Senders
Columns
Dont Show Dialogs
Find History
HTTP
Mail
MailNote
NewNote
News
Recent Stationery List
Recent Stationery Wide List
Rules
Filter
{Delete this} Mail
000
001
002
003
004
OR, 005
006
007
008
009
00A
{Delete this} News
000
001
002

You would take whichever key is causing a problem, (i.e., Mail or News and
right click, selecting Delete) then close the Registry Editor. Do not worry
about the subkeys under Mail or News as they will be deleted when the Main
key for Mail or News is deleted. The information about the rules is encoded
in binary format so they will not make sense and you cannot delete just one
without renumbering all the prior keys so that the sequence is maintained.
Don't even attempt that as you will most likely make an error.

I am getting all sort of good info except I have 3 sub folders(files) the
1st 1 is filter. and when I open folders to look the long number series is
different than the 1 mentioned in answer #1. leading to the question how
do I know what are the correct values? Are the values always 3 digits?
Where can I find or get the correct values besides reinstalling OS?

jim p,
OK, it is just the mail screwing up. I dont use newsgroups on OE. Where do I get a replacment registry for the mail I delete? I dont have a back up at present.. If I end up having to reinstall everything you can bet I will have in the future. Can I just take it only off the reinstall disc that came with computer(dell 8250 P4)
thanks,
kelley

Just right click the Mail key, and select Delete (with Outlook Express
closed), then exit the registry editor and start up Outlook Express. A new
but empty key will be rebuilt in the registry and you can then create rules
that should "stick." Don't even think about reinstalling anything until you
see if all works correctly after doing the above. Good luck.
