Default Need to open new form based on selection in subform

I have a main form tha has a subform that lists all the
records based on a search query. I want to be able to
click on a record in the subform and open a new form that
shows all the detail. I've tried to add a button on the
subform to open a new form but the button is not displayed
when the subform is opened.
