Default How do I calculate Track and Distance from two sets of coordinate

I have a table of place names and gps coordinates. Via drop down boxes and
vlookup, a user can select a start point and destination. I would like excel
to then calculate the Track and Distance from the start point to the
destination. How is this calculation made please??. I could find no function
within Excel to do this, but I have seen a spreadsheet that does it,
unfortunately the workbook was protected.

Thank you Herbert. Exactly what I was looking for, but delving into the
bowels of the workings shows how complicated it is.

I think it is easier to copy your worksheet to my file and design my form
around your worksheet. Hope this is ok with you.

A very helpful website that will come in handy with some of my flight
planning in future.

Regards
Ant
